The Fabulous Fear Machine encourages you to use fear as a tool, but not in a Batman kind of way.
No, this story-driven strategy adventure casts you as an up and coming scientist who, apparently with the “best” motives at heart, uses fear to make it big. What could possibly go wrong? Absolutely nothing, that’s what.
We’re kidding, of course. Protagonist Jan has clearly never seen any horror movies or even a single episode of The Twilight Zone otherwise she’d know that her interaction with the titular Fabulous Fear Machine was going to end badly. The game sports a low-tech, noir-style aesthetic, which makes things even more sinister, as Jan employs the machine’s agents to spread fear.

And now, courtesy of developer Fictiorama Studios and publisher AMC games you can spread a little fear yourself. The Fabulous Fear Machine, set to arrive on PC, now has a demo that you can take for a spin. You can decide how you’re going to create “legends” that will serve your own initially well-meaning ends. It also introduces the first NPC rival who’ll work against you.
And then, if The Fabulous Fear Machine takes your fancy, you can pick it up this Summer when it lands on PC. We’ll definitely be checking it out, not least because we’re big fans of George Orwell’s 1984 and this giving us a not dissimilar vibe. You can check out the extended trailer above and grab the demo between now and April 15th.
