CryptoTwitter is currently being hijacked by NFT scammers who want to make a quick buck via Azuki NFTs. So if you’re promised free Azuki NFTs, it’s probably a scam.

Fake Azuki Holders Target Crypto Beginners In New NFT Scam
The Azuki project is the latest NFT project to be targeted by scammers.

About the latest Azuki scam

Scammers are hijacking the Twitter account of reputable individuals, changing their profile picture, and claiming they’re one of the co-creators of the Azuki project. From there, the scammers are promising a secret airdrop of Beanz. This is the NFT drop that was given out to existing Azuki NFT holders.

Through the hijacked accounts, the scammers are encouraging people to claim a bean and connect their Ethereum wallets. When people connect their wallets, the fraudsters promptly steal the NFTs from these wallets.

Scammers on the loose

This latest Azuki-related scam is similar to the ApeCoin scam that was going around in March. In this case, the scammers managed to steal more than $1 million worth of NFTs. By hijacking verified Twitter accounts, the scammers managed to convince people that they were indeed the founders of BAYC and Yuga Labs. While some people did connect their wallets, others claimed they had never connected their wallets, but were still robbed.

As NFTs become more and more popular, NFT enthusiasts must be aware of such scams. Above all, they must ensure the security of their assets by taking all the necessary steps to protect their wallets.
