THE GAME: For the second consecutive evening, the Dodgers’ recreation was stopped by rain and canceled. They trailed the Cincinnati Reds, 4-0, after the highest of the fifth inning on Friday evening at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Ariz.
HITTING REPORT: Reds right-hander Nick Martinez retired the primary 12 Dodgers batters so as, six on strikeouts.
PITCHING REPORT: Non-roster invitee Justin Wilson struck out two of the primary three Reds. He has given up two runs on 5 hits and a stroll in 4 innings this spring but in addition leads the Dodgers with 10 strikeouts. … Ryan Yarbrough went 3⅓ innings, probably the most by a Dodgers pitcher in a Cactus League recreation this spring (Tyler Glasnow went 4 innings in a “B” recreation). He allowed two runs on three hits and two walks.
DEFENSE REPORT: The primary ball hit to Mookie Betts at his new place (shortstop) was a floor ball that went off his back-hand try and into left subject for a single. The second ball was a floor ball that appeared like a possible double play. However Gavin Lux’s throw from second base bounced to first base and the runner simply beat it out. Lux bounced the throw on the one floor ball hit to him however Freddie Freeman scooped it for the out. “It’s going to take repetitions,” Dodgers supervisor Dave Roberts mentioned. “I don’t suppose anybody anticipated it to be seamless.” … Third baseman Max Muncy made the perfect defensive play of the evening. Muncy dealt with Stuart Fairchild’s onerous floor ball down the road within the fourth inning, throwing Fairchild out.
