New mainline Ghost Recon game in development – report

According to Kotaku, who says it’s spoken with two sources familiar with the game’s development, Ubisoft’s next Ghost Recon game is codenamed ‘OVER,’ and it’s supposedly been in development for over a year. Kotaku’s sources also say it could launch as early as Ubisoft’s 2023 fiscal year, which runs until next April.
Back in October, Ubisoft announced Ghost Recon Frontline, a free-to-play battle royale title that wasn’t well-received by fans. Kotaku claims that Frontline is now “undergoing a reset” at the developer and “is unlikely to launch anytime soon.”
Ubisoft recently announced it was ending active development on Ghost Recon Breakpoint, a game the publisher controversially added NFT items into. Kotaku now reports that Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovations Lab, the team behind the company’s Quartz NFT program, “has gone mostly quiet internally following the initial backlash to its controversial experiment,” though in a statement given to Kotaku, Ubisoft says it will “have more to share regarding Ubisoft Quartz at a later date.”
Ubisoft is also reportedly working on a new third-person battle royale game titled Pathfinder. Kotaku says one of its sources “corroborated its existence,” though that source is unsure if the game will ever see the light of day.
