Socios.com announced today that it has struck a deal with global football icon Lionel Messi. The three-year deal worth over $20 million will see Messi become the first global ambassador for Socios.com.
Lionel Messi will take part in Socios.com World Cup promo campaigns
One of Lionel Messi’s first roles will be as part of a promotional campaign by Socios.com for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar. Indeed, it would be hard to find a better figure to head such a campaign than a footballer widely regarded as one of the best players in history.
For those unaware, Socios.com is a platform on the Chiliz blockchain. In essence, Socios.com partners with major sports teams to create “fan tokens”. Fan Tokens from Socios.com give fans the power to weigh in on decisions of their favorite teams. In addition, these tokens allow fans to unlock a number of VIP rewards.
Prior to this landmark deal with Lionel Messi, Socios.com had scored a number of major partnerships with global soccer clubs, NBA teams, and other sports franchises. Another relevant partnership was Socios.com being the official partner of the 2021 Ballon D’or. In fact, Lionel Messi won that award, extending his record as a seven-time winner.
In a statement about the new partnership, Messi said, “Fans deserve to be recognized for their support. They deserve opportunities to influence the teams they love.” He followed up by saying, I’m proud to join Socios.com’s mission to create a more connected and rewarding future for fans around the world.”
