Yes, we skipped dialogue in Elden Ring and this YouTube short echoes our shame.
No, we didn’t hammer our way through every NPC interaction, but when we got to about the sixtieth NPC, the fourth merchant who’d decided to tell us his life story, we tapped the skip button. Just a bit. And then a bit more.
It was only when we realised we’d skipped a scrap of lore the true horror of what we’d done hit us, and it’s why this particularly YouTube short resonates with us. It’s the work of Goat-on-a-Stick, responsible for such Joel Haver-inspired gems as Never Underestimate Knife Galsia and Minecraft’s Dark Secret, both of which are well worth your time.

It highlights the horror of having NPCs vomit exposition at you, and the terror of suddenly releasing that something they said might be important or even critical to some late-game quest. Yes, we realised too late that Elden Ring doesn’t have an option to replay or revisit dialogue but diving into a wiki would feel like cheating.
You can see the short above and check out Goat-on-a-Stick’s whole channel here. Not all of his content is game-related but there’s still a lot of comedy gold to pick through. Enjoy.
