Slaycation Paradise answer the question no-one asked – “What if Doctor Who’s Autons were sex dolls instead of shop dummies?”
That’s probably not what developer Affordable Acquisition wanted us to take away from Slaycation Paradise’s trailer. And, to be fair, there’s more to the game than just that. It’s a top-down title that mashes up tower defence and horde shooter elements, all in the name of having a good holiday.
Slaycation Paradise’s premise is that people pay to visit other dimensions, mainly where everything’s gone to hell, and slaughter their way through wave after wave of enemies. Zombie world? Check. Alien invasion world? Check. You get the picture.

And it looks as it if could be fun; we’re suckers for a good top-down shooter and the tower defence feature could help keep things fresh. Your holiday maker can both respawn and unlock new weapons so there’s another reason to keep playing. We’re hoping there’s some kind of photo mode where you can “send” postcard, but that’ll depend on how heavily Affordable are leaning into the holidaymaker angle.
But, yes, the final section of the trailer, which sees your character besieged by animated blow up dolls certainly is something. That’s an image that’s hang around in our heads and get dredged up every time we watch Series 1 of the new Doctor Who.
Slaycation Paradise will arrive on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch later this year. You can check out the above trailer or wishlist it on Steam.
