Shane Pinto is ready to make his 2023-24 debut with the Ottawa Senators after signing a one-year contract price $775,000, the team announced on Friday. Pinto has been serving a 41-game suspension for violating the NHL’s playing coverage, and he will likely be eligible to return on Sunday.
Pinto, a second-round decide by Ottawa, started the season as a restricted free agent. The league allowed Pinto to serve his suspension regardless of being unsigned, and now that his 41-game ban is nearing its finish, the Senators have been in a position to signal him and add him to the roster.
Again in October, the NHL announced Pinto’s suspension after launching an investigation into his playing exercise. Though Pinto didn’t wager on the NHL, he was discovered to be in violation of the league’s playing coverage.
“I wish to apologize to the Nationwide Hockey League, the Ottawa Senators, my teammates, the followers and metropolis of Ottawa and most significantly my household,” Pinto stated in an announcement on the time. “I take full duty for my actions and stay up for getting again on the ice with my workforce.”
The last-place Senators want a shot within the arm, and the 23-year-old Pinto might present that. Final season, Pinto had a little bit of a breakout marketing campaign with 20 targets and 15 assists in 82 video games. Pinto ought to be capable of give Ottawa some depth down the center.
