The North Carolina Excessive College Athletic Affiliation has a brand new single-game scoring chief.
Richmond Senior’s Paul McNeil Jr. poured in 71 factors Tuesday because the Raiders defeated Lee County 118-52 in Laurinburg, beating the 74-year-old document of 67 factors scored by Clayton’s Bob Poole in 1950.
McNeil, a 6-foot-6 senior wing, was the Gatorade North Carolina Participant of the 12 months as a sophomore for the Raiders. Ranked No. 6 general within the state and the No. 10 capturing guard nationally by 247Sports Composite, McNeil signed with NC State in November.
His common of 31.1 getting into Tuesday’s sport ranked fourth general within the state. Factoring within the record-setting 71 factors bumps his common almost three factors to 33.9 and first place in NC.

McNeil’s highest-scoring sport to this point this season had been a 50-point outing in opposition to First Flight in a 90-45 win on Dec. 1. He is averaging 11.6 rebounds to go along with 31.1 factors per sport and he is had eight double-doubles this season as Richmond appears to return to the state championship after final 12 months’s runner-up end to Myers Park.
