The Video Video games You Ought to Play This Weekend – August 28, 2026

The only solution to clarify Blood Dungeon is “Vampire Survivors with leaping,” although that is a bit reductive. This roguelike bullet heaven provides platforming into the style’s signature energy crawl, and has you hop your approach by way of the chaotic titular dungeon. That stated, it is undoubtedly a little bit of an acquired style – the artwork type is deliberately crude, and our reviewer Kyle Hilliard did not love that, for instance, he could not get a fart cloud improve with out listening to a barrage of flatulent sounds throughout his run. Nonetheless, for a few of you, particulars like which might be all you want to pull the set off and choose the sport up, so to every their very own.

This is a quote from our evaluation:

Blood Dungeon is clearly born from Vampire Survivors’ simple loop and sense of development, however developer Messhof addresses arguably the first shortcoming of the 2022 Bullet Heaven recreation (I believe that’s what we’ve agreed to name these, proper?): motion. Shifting in Blood Dungeon is enjoyable and it units the sport aside inside the style and calls for fulfilling ability from the participant, however some stability annoyances preserve the sport from hovering.

“XCOM meets Star Wars” is such a strong premise that I knew I might be offered on Zero Firm from the second it was introduced, and now that I’ve began taking part in it, it is every thing I hoped it could be. It is set throughout the Clone Wars (between Assault of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith) and follows a ragtag group of fighters as they observe down a harmful cult known as The Coil. Our reviewer, visitor contributor James Galizio, did not love the story, however stated the wonderful ways gameplay principally makes up for the narrative faults.

This is a quote from our evaluation:

Developer Bit Reactor largely succeeds at what it units out to do, and if you happen to’re a fan of both Star Wars or XCOM it’s a simple advice, even when I want the story had only a bit extra juice. If you happen to’re searching for a sci-fi ways repair, Zero Firm delivers the products.

This recreation is technically a spin-off of the opposite two Plague Story video games, and whereas followers of the collection will discover loads of this setting acquainted, Resonance is well loved as a standalone recreation. It is a prequel a couple of supporting character, so that you need not go in with prior information. Finally, we predict it really works very effectively as an action-adventure title within the vein of an Uncharted or Tomb Raider, and the protagonist Sophia is enjoyable to battle as and makes for a fantastic protagonist.

This is a quote from our evaluation:

Resonance: A Plague Story Legacy borrows from many video games. There are puzzles with Tomb Raider flavors; like Nathan Drake, Sophia has by no means identified the consolation of a secure platform; and the fight and ties to Greek mythology recall video games like God of Battle. What’s spectacular right here is how effectively Asobo Studio executes these acquainted style staples and delivers a shifting story starring a charismatic pirate on what will be the most impactful and tragic journey of her life.

Scott Pilgrim EX got here out a couple of months in the past, however we acquired the pleasantly stunning information this week that it was getting DLC and a free replace – and so they’re each already out. The DLC provides Stephen Stills, Kim Pine, and my private favourite, Knives Chau as playable characters, whereas the free replace provides an Arcade Mode you should utilize to replay the marketing campaign with scores and restricted lives. The sport can also be on sale on the time of writing, so it is an ideal excuse to examine the sport out if you happen to’re . For extra, you’ll be able to learn our evaluation.

This week, Elden Ring involves the Nintendo Swap 2, which means you’ll be able to take one of many best video games of all time on the go. Dubbed the Tarnished Version, this model contains the bottom recreation, some new cosmetics and armor, and the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. That stated, that is most likely the worst solution to play Elden Ring. The sport remains to be wonderful, however if you happen to’re used to the efficiency of a PS5, Xbox Collection X/S, or PC, the efficiency on Swap 2 is a noticeable downgrade. It’s miles from unplayable, although, and if that is the primary time you have owned a console that may play it, we won’t advocate it extremely sufficient. Some other platform would doubtless offer you a greater expertise, however on the finish of the day, it is nonetheless Elden Ring, a recreation we scored a ten/10.

Metallic Gear Stable 4: Weapons of the Patriots has been trapped on the PS3, a console I do not personal, up till this week. In contrast to the opposite video games within the collection, it hadn’t been ported or remade in any capability, so it is a massive deal for it to lastly make it to a more moderen platform as part of the Grasp Assortment Vol. 2. We’ll really be taking part in by way of the sport for our subsequent Tremendous Replay collection, which is thrilling for me, as a result of I’ve by no means performed these video games earlier than – I genuinely don’t have any clue what occurs on this one. Grasp Assortment Vol. 2 additionally contains Metallic Gear Stable: Peace Walker, which has additionally not made it to fashionable consoles – although it did make the soar from PSP to Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2011’s Metallic Gear Stable HD Assortment.
