On Saturday, James Madison lost 31-21 against Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl. Following its season finale, seven JMU players are joining coach Curt Cignetti and his fellow assistants<\/a> at IU.
Here\u2019s a player-by-player look at those making the move from Harrisonburg to Bloomington.

High School\/Hometown:<\/strong> Salem\/Virginia Beach, Va.
Black comes to IU after his most productive year at JMU. Black rushed for 637 yards and 4.5 yards per carry in his redshirt junior season with the Dukes, including a 125-yard performance against Bucknell to open the season. Black is also a threat in the receiving game, as he had 27 receptions and 254 yards this season. Black joins Ty Son Lawton in Bloomington. Lawton and Black split carries in JMU\u2019s backfield in 2023.

High School\/Hometown:<\/strong> Roanoke Catholic\/Roanoke, Va.
Carpenter comes to Bloomington after five years at James Madison. A four-year starter at nose guard and defensive tackle, Carpenter had 53 total tackles, four sacks and an interception in 2023. He earned second-team All-Sun Belt selections in each of the last two years.

After seeing limited playing time as a freshman, Fisher excelled during the 2023 campaign. He was third-team All-Sun Belt after leading JMU with 108 total tackles. Fisher also had an interception and blocked a punt resulting in a touchdown of JMU\u2019s 36-35 win at Virginia on Sept. 9. Fisher chose Indiana over offers from Arizona State and Cincinnati.\u00a0

Horton joins Indiana after having 27 catches for 275 yards and six touchdowns this year. Horton had a standout 116-yard, two-touchdown performance against South Alabama on Sept. 30. These efforts made him first-team All-Sun Belt at the tight end spot. He chose Indiana over offers from Maryland, North Carolina State and Georgia Tech. Horton could add a needed short-yardage threat to the Hoosiers.

Kidwell will come to IU for his seventh season of college football. After being second-team All-Sun Belt in 2022 and first-team All-CAA (FCS) in 2021, Kidwell suffered a season-ending injury in JMU\u2019s fourth game on Sept. 23. Kidwell will apply for a medical hardship waiver to play at IU in 2024.\u00a0
Kidwell has started at JMU since 2020. Most of his starts have been at right tackle, although he did start a few games at right guard in 2020. His experience could provide a lot for IU, as he acted as JMU\u2019s offensive line coach in the Armed Forces Bowl.

High School\/Hometown:<\/strong> Ocean Lakes\/Virginia Beach, Va.
Stephens has played all over the offensive line. He\u2019s made starts at left tacke, right tackle and left guard since his freshman season in 2020. In 2023 alone, Stephens started five games at left tackle with four starts at both right tackle and left guard. These versatile efforts earned him a second-team All-Sun Belt selection.

Walker joins Fisher as a linebacker coming from JMU to IU. Walker started two seasons with the Dukes. He comes to Bloomington after recording 61 tackles, 1.5 sacks and forcing three fumbles in 2023.<\/p>\n
