Alabama basketball starting forward Grant Nelson left the Arkansas State game<\/a> with a lower left leg injury in the second half, per a UA spokesperson. Nelson did not return.
Alabama coach Nate Oats<\/a> said with the score the way it was, the Crimson Tide decided to take Nelson out of the game and start treatment. Oats said Nelson should be good to go vs. Purdue.
“Try to get him ready by Saturday,” Oats said. “Should be good to go by Saturday. Left leg injury that needed some treatment.”
Before he exited, Nelson scored 12 points, grabbed a rebound and blocked a shot. He left the bench to get the injury checked out. Alabama went on to defeat Arkansas State 89-65 on Monday at Coleman Coliseum.
Nelson entered the game as Alabama’s leading rebounder, averaging seven per game. He also leads the team in blocks, averaging 1.7 per game. Nelson joined the Crimson Tide as a transfer from North Dakota State University ahead of the 2023-24 season. He was third on the team in points per game (14.3) and assists (2.0) before Monday’s matchup.
