Under-18s defender Hayden Carson was ecstatic about the team\u2019s \u201cbrilliant\u201d performance after defeating Stoke City 3-0 in the U18 Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Despite the pouring rain and strong wind, the young Wolves seemed to enjoy themselves at Compton on Saturday, with goals from Fabian Reynolds, Fabian Salmon and Conor McLeod leading them to a dominating victory over the visiting Potters. Skipper Carson was impressed with the team\u2019s improvement from last week\u2019s defeat away at Sunderland while confessing his love towards the cold weather.
On the performance<\/strong>
\u201cI thought it was brilliant. Everyone worked hard. Especially after last week, when we were outrun and outperformed (against Sunderland).
\u201cIt wasn\u2019t our best performance then, so I think everyone\u2019s been working hard in the training this week to get it right, and today we got a really good result.\u201d
On the improvement made<\/strong>
\u201cThe most important thing was our work-rate and competitiveness.
\u201cThis week has been all about the hard side of the game and I think that\u2019s the reason we won the game very comfortably 3-0 today.\u201d
On the clean sheet<\/strong>
\u201cFor myself as a defender to get a clean sheet is brilliant.
\u201cThe whole team kept the concentration throughout the game and that\u2019s why we got the clean sheet and the performance that we got.\u201d
On converting more chances<\/strong>
\u201cWhen we came in at half-time, the feedback was that we should\u2019ve been four or five goals up with the chances that we had.
\u201cAt 2-0, they still had a chance in the game, so going forward we just tried to put the chances away to feel more comfortable.\u201d
On the wet and rainy conditions<\/strong>
\u201cI don\u2019t mind it at all, I could just wear a t-shirt!
\u201cI get used to it once I\u2019m out there and running. But I think Stoke didn\u2019t really fancy it in the cold today, so all of us working hard did very well.\u201d
On the three knee-slide celebrations seen<\/strong>
\u201cOh, I would love to do it too if I scored! I just don\u2019t get much of those chances if I\u2019m honest. Hopefully next time!\u201d
