Overwatch 2’s New Story Missions: Worth The Money?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to the news post, Mauga, OW2<\/em>\u2019s 39th hero, will be playable during a limited-time trial starting later today, November 3. The trial will run through November 5. Blizzard was likely planning on announcing the Mauga trial during BlizzCon, which kicks off today<\/span>, but the Switch listing has spoiled that and the new hero\u2019s abilities, too.<\/p>\n

Mauga (which translates to Mountain in Samoan) is a giant of a man who specializes in close-range battles. Mauga\u2019s kit includes two chainguns named \u201cGunny\u201d and \u201cCha-Cha.\u201d Gunny can deal burning damage to enemies while Cha-Cha delivers a \u201cfinishing blow.\u201d He\u2019s also got a passive ability called Berserker that gives him temporary health whenever he deals critical damage to his enemies.<\/p>\n

Mauga also has a charge ability called Overrun that \u201ccannot be stopped by any crowd control abilities, and stomps into opponents dealing a powerful knockback.\u201d The store page also reveals Mauga has a pseudo-support ability called Cardiac Overdrive that \u201cengage both of his hearts\u201d (weird) \u201cand create an aura that reduces incoming damage, allowing allies to heal themselves while dealing damage.\u201d<\/p>\n

By far the scariest part of Mauga\u2019s toolkit is his ultimate ability, Cage Fight. Cage Fight will trap nearby enemies in a \u201ccylindrical fighting ring\u201d while its barrier blocks enemy damage and healing. If you get trapped in one of these, your whole squad gets to watch as Mauga stomps your ass in.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you can\u2019t take him down quickly, the last thing you might see is his charming smile,\u201d Blizzard wrote in the news post.<\/p>\n

Although Mauga\u2019s existence has been a bit of an open secret among players (he\u2019s in a couple of Baptiste shorts) it wasn\u2019t clear when he would debut\u2014and players may not have expected it to be so soon. Mauga\u2019s imminent release is the latest in Blizzard\u2019s efforts to keep the popular hero shooter well-fed with new heroes, game modes, and story content<\/span>. Counting Mauga, the shooter has added six new heroes since the game launched in October 2022.<\/p>\n

Kotaku <\/em>reached out to Blizzard for comment.<\/p>\n
