Deep Rock Galactic<\/strong> is a co-op game that everyone should experience with friends at least once.\u00a0It\u2019s chaotic, featuring procedurally generated caves and endless alien hordes to fight off, but that\u2019s a big part of what\u00a0hooks players in. A little while back, Funday Games teamed up with Ghost Ship Publishing to reveal a Deep Rock Galactic spin-off called Survivor. Now that the developer has had some time to cook up the highly anticipated game, you can play its free demo on Steam.<\/p>\n

When the\u00a0Deep Rock Galactic\u00a0spin-off was first announced,\u00a0I was thrilled. When it comes to\u00a0survival games, I love the bullet hell action and unique level design in games inspired by Vampire Survivors. Funday Games\u2019\u00a0upcoming entry to the relatively new genre fits that bill as it looks fast-paced\u00a0and fun,\u00a0featuring\u00a0our favorite hazard-chasing dwarves from\u00a0Ghost Ship Games\u2019\u00a0original Deep Rock Galactic game.\u00a0We can now get our first taste of Survivor thanks to its free demo on Steam.<\/p>\n

With the demo, you can play as the Scout dwarf through one biome described as being \u201cfull of rocks\u201d and \u201calso stones.\u201d There are three hazard levels total right now, with tons of bugs. \u201cThe eight-legged kind,\u201d Funday specifies, \u201cnot the we-wrote-bad-code-kind.\u201d You\u2019ll need to arm yourself, so the demo includes \u201cmany guns\u201d and overclocks, which are great for making \u201cyour gun even more gun.\u201d<\/p>\n

You can find the developer\u2019s full message and download the demo directly on\u00a0Steam. It should be up for a while, but we don\u2019t know how long for certain.\u00a0\u201cThe demo will also be available through\u00a0Steam\u2019s Next Fest, and then for a week or two after that ends on the 16th of October.\u201d Funday hasn\u2019t given us a specific end date yet, though. \u201cWe\u2019re not really sure yet when exactly we\u2019ll take it down,\u201d the dev writes, \u201cprobably when we feel like it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The free demo is only the beginning for Survivor. Deep Rock Galactic\u2019s spin-off\u00a0will feature multiple characters to play as, a variety of enemies to fight through, lots of weapons to choose from, many more biomes to traverse, and bosses to battle against using the game\u2019s \u201cdeep progression system of perks, artifacts, and upgrades.\u201d While there are no Deep Rock Galactic female characters right now, I hope Survivor implements some.<\/p>\n
