Blaming economic factors such as inflation, Epic Games has raised the cost of Fortnite’s V-Bucks virtual currency for players in the UK. <\/p>\n
Just like any other game with a marketplace, Fortnite has its very own in-game currency called V-Bucks, which you can buy using real money.<\/p>\n
For the first time since 2021, Fortnite has tweaked its V-Bucks prices, not coincidentally just after the Bank of England’s 0.5% interest rate hike in June.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The ongoing cost-of-living crisis is still going, and as if it wasn’t already disheartening enough to fork out \u00a34 for a dozen eggs, its influence is now affecting your gaming escapades too.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Via a recent blog post, Epic Games provided a detailed breakdown of the exact pricing changes that will impact Fortnite players, pointing to \u2018economic factors like inflation and currency fluctuations\u2019 as the driving forces. <\/p>\n
This means, that if you\u2019re looking to buy, let\u2019s say, the Chapter 4 Season 3 battle pass, get ready to dish out \u00a36.99 to snag 1,000 V-Bucks, whereas it used to be \u00a36.49. <\/p>\n
The larger V-Buck bundles are also feeling the pinch, with the cost of 2,800 V-Bucks rising from \u00a315.99 to \u00a317.49.\u00a0<\/p>\n
And if you were eyeing that hefty top-tier 13,500 V-Bucks package, that\u2019ll now be \u00a369.99 instead of the previous \u00a363.99 \u2013 which was already quite a lot to begin with. <\/p>\n

Epic Games is\u00a0also raising\u00a0the price of in-game currency in Fall Guys, showing that Fortnite isn\u2019t the only game affected by rising costs, and it probably won’t be the last.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In a rather surprising twist, the effects of the unpredictable economic situation on video game prices can apparently work both ways.\u00a0<\/p>\n
While it may not seem too strange for game prices to be influenced by economic instability, what’s unexpected is that a game like Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom is being implicated as one of the factors behind UK inflation \u2013 a claim made by actual economists and not Reddit.\u00a0<\/p>\n
