Themes of love and death seem relatively \u201cmature\u201d for me, but regular Roblox<\/em> players in the 17 to 24 category seem to want to go even more gritty<\/em> and dark<\/em>, Roblox<\/em>\u2019s update post suggests.<\/p>\n

The social game\u2019s existing 13+ category \u201cmay contain moderate violence, light realistic blood, moderate crude humor, and\/or unplayable gambling content,\u201d but the soon-to-be-released 17+ category will take things further with \u201cintense violence, heavy realistic blood, moderate crude humor, romantic themes, unplayable gambling content, and\/or the presence of alcohol.\u201d That\u2019s right. And\/or the presence of alcohol.<\/p>\n

To gain access to the possible presence of alcohol, adult users will need to submit a selfie and photo of their government-issued ID. But once they\u2019re cleared, they still shouldn\u2019t expect a free-for-all.<\/p>\n

Cursing won\u2019t be allowed at the category\u2019s launch, though Roblox<\/em> says it\u2019s \u201cexploring ways to enable it in the right context for future iterations.\u201d Sexual content or nudity will never be allowed, nor will drug use. However, there might be a way around the latter\u2014Roblox<\/em> is permitting the depiction of red plastic cups, and no one could ever really say for sure if your cube avatar is sipping on Svedka or CBD soda. It\u2019s the little things.<\/p>\n

Roblox<\/em>\u2019s content changes will be rolling out in \u201cthe coming weeks,\u201d it says, but only eligible users will be able to see it. <\/p>\n
