The Super Mario Bros.Movie has proven to be an absolute juggernaut of a film and has easily exceeded Nintendo and Illuminations initial expectations, securing the record of second biggest animated movie of all-time just behind Disney\u2019s, Frozen 2. Today, Chris Pratt, the new voice behind Mario, shared the news that a sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie will be announced \u201csoon\u201d once the writers strike has concluded. Pratt went on to say that they are all extremely grateful of the support they have received from the movie and says that it\u2019s \u201creally shocking to me how successful that movie has been.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOne thing Pratt doesn\u2019t intend to leave alone is the Mario universe, after\u00a0The Super Mario Bros. Movie\u00a0was a smash hit. In fact, Pratt teased that news about a sequel to the film should be coming \u201csoon.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re in the midst of\u00a0this writers\u2019 strike, and so everything has been paused and [put] on hold for the right reasons,\u201d he said. \u201cI really do support the WGA and our writers. When the negotiations have been completed, and the writers feel comfortable moving forward, then it\u2019ll be time to start talking about what\u2019s next for that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re so grateful for the support, though,\u201d Pratt added. \u201c[It\u2019s] really shocking to me how successful that movie\u2019s been. I mean, I expected that people would love it the way I was excited about it, but it\u2019s truly multigenerational around the world. People love it. They love Mario\u2026 It\u2019s a really fun, funny, cute, heartwarming movie and, God, I can\u2019t believe I\u2019m part of it.\u201d<\/p>\n
