Today Konami announced its financial results for the full fiscal year between April 2022 and March 2023.<\/p>\n

Total revenue was 314,321 million yen, up 4.9% year-on-year, while business profit was 56,611 million yen, down\u00a029.5% year-on-year. It’s worth mentioning that revenue is defined as “record-high” in the official documentation\u00a0mostly due to the recovery of the\u00a0Gaming & Systems business from the slump caused by the pandemic and the weak yen. Keep in mind that, despite the name, the Gaming & Systems business is related to pachinko, pachislot, and other casino machines.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On the other hand, development and promotion costs on top of the energy prices have negatively impacted profit for the fiscal year.<\/p>\n

Looking at the Digital entertainment business, which includes video games and the Yu-Gi-Oh! TGC, revenue was 213,432 million yen (down 0.7% year-on-year), while business profit was\u00a053,009 million yen (down 30.6% year-on-year).<\/p>\n

We hear that\u00a0Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection<\/em> performed “strongly” especially in Europe and America. Furthermore,\u00a0eFootball 2023<\/em> passed 600 million downloads.<\/p>\n

Speaking of the outlook for the current fiscal year, Konami expects revenue to be\u00a0328,000 million yen and business profit to be 63,000 million, both up year-on-year. For the Digital Entertainment business, the expectation is\u00a0216,000 million yen in revenue and\u00a055,500 million yen in business profit. Both figures would mark an improvement year-on-year if achieved.<\/p>\n
