Going Medieval<\/em>‘s next update is on the horizon, and it’s bringing back a pretty major feature that was previously dropped from the game. That’s right: ladders are making a comeback, and not only are they returning, but it sounds like developer Foxy Voxel has big plans for them.<\/p>\n According to the latest\u00a0Medieval Monday Talk, although ladders were previously removed from\u00a0Going Medieval\u00a0<\/em>for various reasons, they’re now coming “back in a big way, with a new look and new functionality”. The new\u00a0Going Medieval\u00a0<\/em>ladders will allow you to move between layers, and you’ll be able to build them anywhere within allowed space, as well as adjacent to floors, doors, windows, and walls.<\/p>\n Ladders will be used by humans, but perhaps more amusingly, they’ll also be used by “certain animals, like cats, rats, and polecats”, according to Foxy Voxel. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty excited to watch a rat attempt to climb a ladder. Your settlers will also be restricted to certain goals while on ladders, including construction, combat, and refueling, among others.<\/p>\n Combat-wise, there are some pretty fun interactions your settlers can have with ladders. For instance, when fighting on ladders, settlers will equip shields on their backs so that they can block arrows. Certain weapons are more effective on ladders than others, and two-handed weapons won’t be of much use. We’ll have to wait for the update to drop to know more.<\/p>\n Foxy Voxel says that ladders won’t be a catch-all solution to your problems, despite how much more useful they are now. You can’t place them side-by-side, for example, and expect your settlers to “go full Spider-Man” (Foxy Voxel’s words, not mine) on them.
