Polygon continued its recent hot streak this week by announcing the creation of .polygon domain names.\u00a0 Similar to the wildly popular Ethereum-based .eth domains, .polygon domains will simplify the user experiences for Polygon\u2019s 180m+ customers.\u00a0 What is a Web3 domain and why are they important?<\/p>\n
What is a Web3 domain?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n
Web3 domains offer important quality-of-life improvements for crypto users.\u00a0 They allow us to navigate Web3 with easy-t0-remember public addresses, think evan.eth or nftbuyer.polygon, instead of traditional public addresses made up of long strings of randomized letters and numbers.<\/p>\n
Perhaps most importantly, however, Web3 domains also help us forge our digital identities.\u00a0 Crypto users can use a .polgyon or .eth domain to broadcast their association with their favorite blockchain.\u00a0 By doing so, we can help carve out a spot in the Web3 world to call our own.<\/p>\n

How will Polygon domains fit in?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n
Polygon is a layer 2 blockchain that sits on top of Ethereum.\u00a0 It allows for faster, cheaper transactions while also taking advantage of the security of the Ethereum network.\u00a0 Polygon has been a rare bright spot during an otherwise down market for cryptocurrencies.\u00a0 The India-based Web3 giant recently announced partnerships with Reddit, Starbucks, Disney, Mastercard, and many more of the world\u2019s biggest companies to help introduce them to the world of Web3.<\/p>\n\n<\/picture>\n\n<\/picture>\n<\/noscript>The Polygon Team has built partnerships with some of the world\u2019s largest corporations Image Credit: Coindesk<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Polygon is partnering with Unstoppable Domains, the Web3 company named by Forbes as one of America\u2019s Best Startup Employers in 2022, to create .polygon digital identities.\u00a0 These domains can be used to access Unstoppable Domains\u2019 more than 750 integrated apps, allowing a seamless login process without the need for passwords or hard-to-remember wallet addresses.<\/p>\n
For the first time, Polygon fans can show off their appreciation for the rapidly-growing Layer 2 blockchain by attaching a .polygon domain to their Web3 persona.\u00a0 By doing so, they\u2019ll also enjoy all the benefits that Web3 domains have to offer.<\/p>\n
The sale will start on March 16 and domains can be purchased through Unstoppable Domains.<\/p>\n
