The new Naughty Dog<\/strong> game, which is being kept tightly under wraps, might take some cues from Elden Ring<\/strong>\u2018s approach to narrative. Speaking to The Washington Post, Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann said that he was \u201cintrigued\u201d by the way games like Elden Ring and Inside tell their stories because they don\u2019t rely on traditional storytelling techniques.<\/p>\n

New Naughty Dog game might rely less on cinematics<\/h2>\n

\u201cI\u2019m more recently intrigued by stuff like Elden Ring and Inside that doesn\u2019t rely as much on traditional narrative to tell its story,\u201d Druckmann told The Washington Post\u2018s Gene Park. He added that some of the \u201cbest storytelling\u201d in The Last of Us is in the cinematics, although players do experience a lot of the narrative through gameplay and exploration. Druckmann seems inspired by games that don\u2019t hold players\u2019 hands.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt doesn\u2019t mean we will never have dialogue or cut scenes,\u201d Druckmann clarified. \u201cI think those are like tools in your toolbox.\u00a0And it\u2019s about how you use all these different aspects.\u201d He said that Elden Ring style storytelling could work with the type of games Naughty Dog makes, and he isn\u2019t opposed to trying something new and different.<\/p>\n

Druckmann also teased Naughty Dog\u2019s mystery projects once again, stating that his teams are \u201cvery excited\u201d by what they\u2019re working on.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
