Bandai Namco Entertainment\u00a0has announced<\/a> that\u00a0Digimon Survive<\/strong> sales have surpassed 500,000 copies worldwide, thanking fans for their continued support of Digimon games.<\/p>\n

In the \u201chybrid visual novel and tactical RPG,\u201d you play as Takuma Momozuka \u2013 a second-year middle school student that becomes lost in a parallel world while on a school camping trip.<\/p>\n

Soon having the chance to team up with Agumon, they must work together to survive against the ferocious creatures that infest the parallel world as Takuma works out how to return to his own world.<\/p>\n

The game, which will have around 100 Digimon species and celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Digimon anime, will see Digimon evolve when their Digivolve requirements have been fulfilled. This will see them consume EP (Energy Points), and, once their EP runs out, they will devolve back to their original form. And, their EP can be restored whenever they attack enemies or talk to their partner in battle.<\/p>\n

With the freedom to explore your surroundings and see interactions between Takuma, his friends and their Digimon, the choices that you make on your journey will have an impact on the story, the fate of some characters and how some Digimon evolve.<\/p>\n

Your interactions in Battle will also prove useful, letting you encourage your Digimon to give them boosts and advantages or to even talk to an enemy Digimon in an effort to recruit them to your team. Positioning your Digimon effectively can also lend an advantage, as well as using items and skills to survive in this mysterious world. Digivolutions will also \u201cplay an important role giving strong boosts to Digimon and turn the tide in battles.\u201d<\/p>\n

We enjoyed our time with the game, concluding in our review: \u201cI love visual novels, and I love strategy games. For a subsection of gamers, Digimon Survive will hit the perfect sweet spot between both of those. It\u2019s got everything you\u2019d expect from a digestible entry with a focus on presentation. However, I couldn\u2019t help but feel that the game is just shy of greatness. Make no mistake, Digimon Survive is good. However, despite its best efforts, I found that the pacing drags and the combat mechanics are unremarkable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Digimon Survive is now available at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide.<\/p>\n
