<\/figure>\n A month after Bank of America downgraded Hasbro\u2019s stock over fears it was \u201ckilling its golden goose\u201d by oversaturating the market<\/span> with Magic: The Gathering<\/em> cards, the toy manufacturer says that\u2019s not the case. \u201cThere is no evidence that Magic<\/em> is overprinted,\u201d Wizards of the Coast president Cynthia Williams told investors during a recent corporate strategy \u201cfireside chat.\u201d<\/p>\n Magic: The Gathering<\/em> is currently on its third printing of the latest Warhammer 40K<\/em><\/span> crossover set. To some fans, it\u2019s an exciting time for the decades-old card game about dueling wizards amid a flurry of new releases and spin-offs. For others, fatigue is beginning to set in as they accuse publisher Wizards of the Coast and parent company Hasbro of flooding the market with too many cards. Executives at those companies argue that\u2019s nonsense.<\/p>\n \u201cIn aggregate, there is no evidence that Magic<\/em> is overprinted, and the sentiment of \u2018Magic<\/em> needs to cut print runs to support prices\u2019\u2014that\u2019s a misunderstanding of our business and our customers,\u201d Williams said when asked about the criticism during Thursday\u2019s presentation (via Polygon<\/em><\/span>). She added that average sales for new releases haven\u2019t changed year over year and that the company is simply printing on demand to meet current players\u2019 needs. \u201cWe have no indication that there [have] been any broad negative changes to interest in trading or post-purchase selling of Magic<\/em> products.\u201d<\/p>\n
