In an effort to improve the safety of younger players on Fortnite, Epic Games has introduced a brand-new type of account called Cabined Accounts.<\/p>\n

However, many players may not understand the change, or appreciate the benefits it can bring, especially when it comes to protecting themselves online. Fortunately, we\u2019re here to answer your questions.<\/p>\n

What Are Cabined Accounts?<\/h2>\n

Cabined Accounts are a new type of account on Epic Games.<\/strong> They are specific to users under the age of 13 (or under their country\u2019s age of digital consent). <\/strong><\/p>\n

The purpose of Cabined Accounts is to protect younger players from any potential dangers of playing online while giving parents more control over what their child can access.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Beginning today, we\u2019re rolling out a new type of Epic Account to Fortnite called Cabined Accounts that will provide a tailored experience that is safe and inclusive for younger players while maintaining access to the gameplay you love.<\/p>\n

This comes just shortly after the launch of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1, which introduced a new roster of Battle Pass characters for players to unlock, including the iconic Doom Slayer.<\/p>\n

How Do Cabined Accounts Work in Fortnite?<\/h2>\n

Cabined Accounts allow users under the age of 13 (or under their country\u2019s age of digital consent) to play Fortnite with limitations. <\/strong><\/p>\n

This includes the products they can purchase, the use of voice chat or text chat, and receiving promotional materials. These limitations can be altered or lifted entirely by a parent or guardian.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Here is everything that a Cabined Account restricts or removes in Fortnite and the Epic Games Store:<\/p>\n

  • Using voice chat or free text chat in-game<\/li>\n
  • Buying in-game items with real money<\/li>\n
  • Downloading games that are not owned or made by Epic themselves<\/li>\n
  • Getting recommended content based on past activity<\/li>\n
  • Receiving promotional marketing via email or push notification<\/li>\n
  • The ability to use their Epic Account to sign into other third-party websites, applications, or services. <\/li>\n
  • Choosing a custom display name<\/li>\n
  • Applying a SMS-based two-factor authentication to their account<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
