NetherRealm Studios\u2019 Ed Boon has confirmed the obvious: his next game will be either Mortal Kombat 12\u00a0<\/strong>or\u00a0Injustice 3<\/strong>. While this doesn\u2019t come as a surprise, it\u2019s still nice to have an official confirmation amid reports that Injustice\u2019s future is hanging in the balance following parent company Warner Media\u2019s merger with Discovery. Rumors suggested that Warner Bros. was looking to offload NetherRealm.<\/p>\n

Although he\u2019ll be in attendance, Boon has said that he won\u2019t be presenting at the next major industry event, The Game Awards 2022. Fans expected an announcement at Mortal Kombat\u2019s anniversary celebrations earlier but that didn\u2019t happen either. From the sound of things, whatever game NetherRealm is working on next won\u2019t be announced anytime soon.<\/p>\n

Going by NetherRealm\u2019s previous pattern, it\u2019s Injustice 3 that should be seeing the light of day next but rumor has it that the studio has been forced to prioritize Mortal Kombat 12 as it\u2019s a safer bet than Injustice in terms of commercial performance. However, these rumors remain unsubstantiated and NetherRealm remains tight-lipped about what it\u2019s working on.<\/p>\n
