  Following the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/review\/battlefield-2042\/battlefield-2042-review-the-battle-of-the-bugs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rocky and bug-filled launch of Battlefield 2042<\/a> last year, EA announced that Respawn\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2021\/12\/02\/respawns-vince-zampella-becomes-head-of-battlefield-amidst-wider-franchise-changes-that\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vince Zampella was named as the head of the Battlefield franchise<\/a> amidst wider franchise changes&nbsp;that include the creation of a Battlefield universe. Then, a few months later, EA announced that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2022\/03\/24\/next-battlefield-enters-pre-production-valuable-lessons-were-learned-from-battlefield\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">its next Battlefield game had entered pre-production<\/a> using \u201cvaluable lessons\u201d learned from Battlefield 2042.&nbsp;\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
While exactly what the next Battlefield game is remains confirmed, a new Battlefield-centric blog post from chief experience officer of EA Byron Beede and the Battlefield team sheds new light on a possibility. The next game might be a narrative-focused one set in the Battlefield universe.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cMany of you know that Marcus Lehto joined the team earlier this year,\u201d the blog post reads. \u201cToday, we announced the name of his new Seattle-based studio, Ridgeline Games. Marcus will bring his long legacy of creating fascinating worlds and gripping narratives to Battlefield. Backed by a world-class team, he\u2019ll be leading the charge to develop a narrative campaign set in the Battlefield universe that will engage fans in new and exciting ways while remaining true to the classic elements of the series.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
As you can see, the blog post doesn\u2019t indicate that Lehto\u2019s narrative game is the next Battlefield, but it\u2019s a possibility, as is a new multiplayer-focused project like Battlefield 2042. Only time will tell.\u00a0<\/p>\n
