Call of Duty: Warzone 2 release date speculation<\/h2>\n

Call of Duty Warzone 2 is scheduled to launch sometime in 2022<\/strong>, according to a recent Call of Duty blog post.<\/p>\n

Warzone 2 is set to be a clean slate, with Infinity Ward creating a brand new map and a new set of weaponry. Players won\u2019t be able to bring anything from the old game into Warzone 2, including operators, weapons, and loadouts. The original Warzone will continue to be playable after the launch of Warzone 2, though there aren\u2019t many details about this just yet.<\/p>\n

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 map leaks<\/h2>\n

Once again, Activision Blizzard has kept quiet in terms of big reveals on Warzone 2 so far. Apart from the mention that there will be a new Warzone map in the special briefing,\u00a0we haven\u2019t heard anything outside of\u00a0leaks from insiders. The latest Warzone map usually ties in with the current Call of Duty game\u2019s campaign, so this might give fans a sneak peek at what they can expect from Modern Warfare 2.<\/p>\n

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 crossplay<\/h2>\n

We haven\u2019t had any official confirmation about Warzone 2\u2019s crossplay functionality, but we can make some educated guesses based on the game\u2019s confirmed platforms. Warzone 2 is going to launch this year on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Series X\/S. The game uses the same engine as Modern Warfare 2, which is also going to launch on the last generation of consoles.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s been some concern from the Warzone community about the game supporting Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players. Unless Warzone 2 features separate playlists to divide last-generation players, there are going to be limits on how many players can join a server at one given time. The devs mentioned in a recent briefing that they\u2019ve tested 100 human players alongside 300 AI opponents. This certainly wouldn\u2019t be able to take place on last-generation consoles.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a chance mobile gamers could play alongside the existing player base, but this heavily depends on the engine Activision Blizzard decides to use.<\/p>\n

Call of Duty\u00a02.0 engine\u00a0upgrades<\/h2>\n

In an effort to unify the Call of Duty games, all tech upgrades and story elements in Modern Warfare 2 are coming to Warzone 2 later this year, dubbed COD 2.0 by the devs. This includes improvements to the game\u2019s AI mechanics to make NPCs\u2019 actions more realistic. For example, NPCs in Warzone 2 will check their angles before pushing an area, just like a good human player. There aren\u2019t many AI enemies on Caldera, but this could change on the new Warzone map.<\/p>\n

Water has been drastically improved in Warzone 2, giving players the ability to dive underwater and shoot enemies using secondary weapons. The devs have struck a balance between gameplay and realism \u2013 shooting underwater isn\u2019t actually possible in real life, but it\u2019s an option in Call of Duty. Swimming has also been upgraded to give players a chance to survive if they find themselves in water.<\/p>\n

The way players can interact with vehicles has been altered, opening up room for more exciting conflicts. Players can lean out of windows to aim their weapons, and this option is available to passengers and the driver. Vehicles won\u2019t instantly explode when they take damage, instead bumpers, doors, and tires can be destroyed as they become blemished. Finally, Ricochet, the anti-cheat system introduced in Call of Duty: Vanguard, is going to be active from day one on both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.<\/p>\n
