As great as it is, one of the biggest annoyances of Valve\u2019s Steam Deck console is how many major games are still unsupported, including the latest Halo game. Now it\u00a0seems finally possible to get Halo Infinite Steam Deck playable at last, and here\u2019s how to do it.<\/p>\n

At the current count, there\u00a0are over 4,000 officially Verified or playable Steam Deck games\u00a0right now, although there are still plenty of games left completely unplayable. While there are a load of Xbox games playable on the console, Halo Infinite isn\u2019t one of them.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s set to change at last, thanks to a new community-made\u00a0Proton update\u00a0(as spotted by Gaming on Linux).\u00a0While still just in testing right now \u2013 and you\u2019ll need an extra application to install it \u2013 anyone\u00a0with the update should be able to get Halo Infinite working on Steam Deck. Gaming on Linux notes that the multiplayer side is running but they haven\u2019t tested the campaign yet,\u00a0but with any luck that will work too.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s how to do it on Steam Deck:<\/p>\n

• Head to Settings > System update channel and select \u2018preview\u2019<\/li>\n
• In desktop mode, find the\u00a0application ProtonUp-Qt and install it, then run the new update \u2018GE-Proton 7-26\u2019<\/li>\n
• Open up your Halo Infinite install folder and remove the \u2018videos\u2019 sub-folder<\/li>\n
• Go to Halo Infinite in your Steam library and press the cog-shaped settings button, then Compatibility, and select\u00a0GE-Proton 7-26<\/li>\n
• Run Halo Infinite on Steam Deck!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
