Haven <\/strong>has officially become a first-party PlayStation Studio<\/strong> as of today, with the deal closing, and a new interview with studio head and co-founder Jade Raymond<\/strong> reveals that it\u2019s already impressing the other internal PlayStation<\/strong> teams.<\/p>\n

The studio\u2019s work to lean on developing its game using the cloud has been the big thing drawing everyone\u2019s attention.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the things I\u2019ve heard from a lot of devs in the industry during the pandemic is that they\u2019ve had to really grow their IT teams to support all the people with multiple machines working from home, and trying to dial in on VPN and get access.<\/p>\n

We have zero IT in the studio because we\u2019ve automated everything in the cloud. There are things like that where we\u2019re already seeing the pay off, and that\u2019s why we\u2019ve decided to invest more.\u201d<\/p>\n

That approach has been the thing that reportedly got Haven\u2019s chief technical officer speaking to other teams within PlayStation Studios about what Haven is doing.<\/p>\n

Haven\u2019s work, though not necessarily regarding the cloud, has also attracted the attention of Mark Cerny<\/strong>, who is reportedly collaborating with the studio as it continues to invest heavily into its R&D branch.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo [Mark Cerny] is one of the main reasons we\u2019re investing so much in R&D, and in this very senior engineering team. It\u2019s not just tied to cloud but also some forward-thinking R&D.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not able to say too much now, but that\u2019s obviously one of the other things that\u2019s been a big attractor and is exciting to our team with PlayStation.<\/p>\n

Of course Mark Cerny is kind of like a rockstar, too, so being able to collaborate with him is really exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n
