Activision Blizzard had plans to remake Tony Hawk\u2019s Pro Skater 3 + 4<\/strong>, but these were abandoned after Vicarious Visions was absorbed into Blizzard Entertainment.<\/p>\n

The developer was praised by fans and critics alike for their efforts to deliver the original Tony Hawk\u2019s Pro Skater 1 + 2 remake, and, according to the legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk, the second remake had already been in the pipeline as a follow-up. That is until the publisher chose to merge the studio with Blizzard to support their ongoing projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish I could say we had something in the works, but Vicarious Visions kind of got disbanded and Activision\u2019s going through all their stuff so I don\u2019t know what\u2019s next. I mean that was the plan, even up to the release date of [Tony Hawk\u2019s Pro Skater 1 + 2] we were going [to do] 3 + 4 and then Vicarious got absorbed and they were looking for other developers and it was over,\u201d Tony Hawk explained on a Twitch livestream.<\/p>\n

When asked whether Activision had lost faith in how successful the original project would be, he responded: \u201cThe truth of it is that they were trying to find someone to do 3 + 4, but they just didn\u2019t trust anyone the way they did with Vicarious. So, they took other pitches from other studios, like, \u2018What would you do with a Tony Hawk\u2019s Pro Skater title?\u2019 And, they didn\u2019t like anything they heard and then that was it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The dream remains dead, for now at least. But Tony Hawk remains optimistic that \u201cwhen the dust settles,\u201d there\u2019s still a chance that the second remake could be made somehow.<\/p>\n

Tony Hawk\u2019s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is now available at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide.<\/p>\n
