It\u2019s now confirmed, perhaps to no one\u2019s surprise: there will be an in-game Diablo\u00a04 store when the RPG game finally releases. Activision Blizzard is currently hiring someone to manage this \u201cDiablo\u00a04 in-game store experience,\u201d\u00a0and the job listing\u00a0also confirms that the publisher considers it a live-service game.<\/p>\n

Blizzard\u00a0and its fans are\u00a0currently celebrating the release of Diablo Immortal, the \u201cbiggest launch\u201d in the franchise\u2019s history, but a number of fans have issued concerns about microtransactions and the in-game store. Diablo Immortal\u2019s loot boxes possibly got the game banned from release in some countries, and players recently discovered \u2018hidden\u2019 legendary loot box crests.<\/p>\n

Well, we don\u2019t know for sure\u00a0when Diablo IV is coming out, but we do know it will definitely have an in-game store. According to a new job listing, Blizzard is seeking a product manager to oversee Diablo IV\u2019s \u201cin-game shop.\u201d This person will need \u201cexperience working in a live service gaming environment,\u201d and Blizzard considers the storefront to be \u201ca key component of Diablo IV\u2019s seasonal content strategy.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

This puts more flesh on the bones of what we heard way back at BlizzCon 2019, when lead designer Joe Shely, speaking with streamer Quin69, confirmed expansions and cosmetics in the form of microtransactions. The job ad also confirms that Diablo IV will get seasons. Given how successful Diablo III\u2019s seasons are, this isn\u2019t a surprise at all, but these Diablo IV seasons will also get a fresh wave of new digital items for sale each time.<\/p>\n

None of this is a surprise, really, but given the poor reception to Diablo Immortal\u2019s microtransactions and the disastrous launch of the Diablo III auction house, hopefully, Blizzard will handle Diablo IV\u2019s digital storefront with care.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
