<\/figure>\n The brilliant French artist Jean \u201cMoebius\u201d Giraud had one of the most recognisable art styles around, and while his works have inspired video games for decades\u2014including the ones he worked on directly<\/span>\u2014few have been able to truly look like one of his illustrations come to life.<\/p>\n We got one last year though, with the excellent Sable<\/em><\/span>, and now we\u2019re getting another one called XTAL<\/em> (You could also count Pixeljunk Raiders<\/em> if you\u2019re feeling generous<\/span>). With a name that might have you thinking of a classic Aphex Twin<\/em> track<\/span>, XTAL <\/em>is billed by its developers as \u201ca stylish mix of action and exploration with a fast combat system that combines TPS, Hack \u2018n\u2019 Slash and Bullet Hell elements with a vibrant art style inspired by French Comics\u201d.<\/p>\n (Yes, I know Moebius isn\u2019t the only artist with a \u201cFrench comics\u201d style, as that\u2019s glossing over the hugely-influential work of folks like Jean-Claude M\u00e9zi\u00e8res, but this is clearly steering straight towards Moebius\u2019 own unique look).<\/p>\n Apologies to anyone who has read this far and is still reading that as \u201cMorbius\u201d<\/span>, but it\u2019s not my fault the internet has fried your brain. <\/p>\n Here\u2019s the game\u2019s trailer, with a plot summed up as: \u201cA distant past echoes through planet Syro, while its ruined landscapes are being corrupted by a mysterious force. You, as the Seeker, will make use of a lost technology to engage in combat and explore a vast, evocative world.\u201d<\/p>\n
