Kurat<\/em><\/span> is a game where you and a friend are playing a complex board game against the Devil himself in hopes of surviving. Will the Devil play fair?<\/p>\n

Kurat<\/em> is a co-op game that you should play with some of your pals as your friendship will be tested! Together, you will work through a bunch of trials in the Estonian Wilderness, and attempt to stay alive through the challenges. You can collect items and weapons to help you better get through things, but it\u2019s difficult even with them. The gameplay happens in two parts.<\/span><\/p>\n

First, there is a bit of a story showcased on the screen. This will tell you what is going on in the world, and ultimately give you a decision to make. You and your friend will then appear as two characters on the screen, and will need to run over to the choice you want to make. This choice will trigger an effect. Most of these are bad.<\/span><\/p>\n

The next phase of the game puts you into a sort of isometric forest where you will need to fight off monsters and collect whatever good stuff is there. You can use any items in this area, and otherwise need to try to survive with your friend. In the wild, the Devil will challenge you a lot. So you will need to communicate and be on your toes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I got to play some of Kurat<\/em> at Insomnia 68, where I was captivated by the visual style. I really enjoyed the writing and feel of the game so far. However, none of it felt like a board game to me, it did feel like an action-packed, interesting game that I am looking forward to the release of.<\/span><\/p>\n
