If the words “Dead Space creator’s new horror” and “PUBG: Battlegrounds universe” filled you with a little bit of doubt about what The Callisto Protocol will turn out like, you need fret no longer, as Striking Distance Studios founder and Dead Space creator, Glen Schofield, has said that the link between the two has been severed.<\/p>\n

When The Callisto Protocol was announced in 2020, it was originally confirmed to be a survival horror set within the PUBG extended universe, but Striking Distance Studios’ founder, Glen Schofield, has now said that it’s no longer the case. In a tweet posted yesterday, Schofield confirmed that The Callisto Protocol is its own story and “it was originally part of the PUBG timeline but grew into its own world.”<\/p>\n

It sounds like the studio’s parent company, Krafton, will still have its popular battle royale game pop up in the form of “surprises,” though, so expect a few easter eggs to be littered throughout. We’re hoping to bash some monster heads with a frying pan, but that is probably just a pipedream.
