That day is today: World Turtle Day. It\u2019s not just about having fun and admiring these wonderful shelled creatures: it\u2019s about promoting protection of turtles and their disappearing habitats around the world. You can read more about World Turtle Day here.<\/p>\n

But we\u2019re a video games website. What do turtles have to do with us? Well, turtles are in video games, of course. Not many of them. But enough. Here are our favourite video game turtles. Happy World Turtle Day!<\/p>\n

1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles<\/strong><\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

Kowabunga! These green dudes need no introduction, of course. They\u2019ve featured in many video games over the years, both good and bad. The less we way about\u00a0Mutants in Manhattan\u00a0<\/em>the better, really. But there\u2019s one game on the horizon that we can\u2019t wait for:\u00a0Shredder\u2019s Revenge<\/em>. Hopefully it\u2019ll restore these guys to the height of their video game careers.<\/p>\n

2. Bowser from the Super Mario series<\/strong><\/h2>\n

It\u2019s sort-of hard to think of Bowser as a turtle. He\u2019s\u00a0Bowser<\/em>. Turtles are cute; Bowser\u2019s all big, evil and fiery. But think about it: he\u2019s got a shell on his back. What else could he be, really? We\u2019re not sure he\u2019d appreciate being called a turtle, but we still think he deserves a place on this list of best turtles in video games. Bowser, we salute you. Enjoy this day, brother.<\/p>\n

3. Squirtle from the Pok\u00e9mon series<\/strong><\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

There are several turtle-like Pok\u00e9mon out there. But Squirtle has to be our favourite. Just look at him. He\u2019s adorable. And he\u2019s also unmistakably a turtle. The cutest video game turtle there ever was.<\/p>\n

4. Aurora from Roguebook<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

This one\u2019s a bit obscure, but\u00a0Roguebook<\/em>\u2018s Aurora is undoubtedly deserving of a place on this list of best video game turtles. She\u2019s the one on the left in the image, if you couldn\u2019t tell. And she has some serious powers hidden in her shell. You\u2019ll only appreciate the wonder of this turtle if you\u2019ve played\u00a0Roguebook<\/em>. (And if you haven\u2019t played\u00a0Roguebook<\/em>, get to it.)<\/p>\n

5. Bentley from the Sly Cooper series<\/strong><\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

Only in video games would a raccoon have a turtle as a sidekick. But anyone that\u2019s played the Sly Cooper series will know that Bentley is far more than a sidekick. Without him, Sly Cooper would be nothing; he\u2019s the brains of the operation. This nerdish turtle puts Sly\u2019s plans together, keeping everything running smoothly. He\u2019s a supergeek, and that\u2019s why we love him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
