Next-gen AMD Radeon GPUs are on the horizon, and we\u2019re learning more about the next best graphics card contender as its potential release date approaches. While various spec whispers have made their way out of the rumour mill, a new leak reveals that RDNA 3 based Navi 31 configurations may inherit RDNA 2\u2019s fishy naming conventions.<\/p>\n

According to Kepler<\/a> on Twitter, next-gen AMD Radeon<\/strong> GPUs allegedly bear the codename \u2018Plum Bonito\u2019. In the culinary world, the term refers to a dish comprising dried fish flakes, soya sauce, and seaweed. Rather than\u00a0having anything to do with food at team red\u2019s HQ, the phrase is supposedly a tasty tech term that\u2019s attached to its next-gen gaming PC ambitions.<\/p>\n

If we know one thing, it\u2019s that GPU companies love themed names. Nvidia continues to attach famous scientist names to the likes of its upcoming RTX 4000 series, codenamed Ada Lovelace. Providing AMD embraces its RNDA 2\u00a0fish-fueled terminology, we\u00a0may see future graphics cards follow suit. That said, Kepler\u2019s leak includes an RDNA 4 tidbit, as the insider reveals the microarchitecture might be officially known as \u2018GFX1200\u2019.<\/p>\n

Internal names and future RDNA 4 branding aside, the leaker also says AMD\u2019s Navi 31 will use a Gemini board. Effectively, this gives us an idea of what to expect from the Radeon RX 7900 XT, the company\u2019s to-be flagship graphics card.<\/p>\n
