Forget your Cambridge, Oxford, and Urban dictionaries because we now have the ultimate PlayStation gaming dictionary<\/strong> compiled by none other than Sony for gamers who aren\u2019t familiar with the \u201cmost popular words, terminology, and slang phrases\u201d used by fellow cool kids. As spotted by Reddit user xektor, the dictionary seems to be a new addition to PlayStation\u2019s website and is called \u201cPlayStation Ultimate Gaming Glossary.\u201d<\/p>\n

On a serious note, the dictionary is pretty handy as there are terms even I\u2019m not familiar with and I\u2019ve been playing games for far longer than I like to admit (anyone else here had a Sinclair ZX Spectrum or Atari?) but it also makes for a fun read. Here are some of my personal favorites, although these are commonly-used terms:<\/p>\n

Git gud \u2013 A deliberate misspelling of \u2018Get Good\u2019, \u2018git gud\u2019 is an injunction to raise one\u2019s own skill level in response to a particularly difficult challenge. Players complaining of unreasonable difficulty in a game are often encouraged to \u2018git gud\u2019, persevering with the game and overcoming the challenge through patience and learning.<\/em><\/p>\n

Noob-tube \u2013 Originally referring to grenade launchers, a \u2018noob-tube\u2019 typically refers to powerful, easy-to-use weapons that are popular with inexperienced players, particularly in competitive multiplayer.<\/em><\/p>\n

Wrecked \u2013 Often stylised as \u2018rekt\u2019 or \u2018recked\u2019, to be wrecked or to wreck another is to best or be bested easily, typically in a one-on-one encounter. \u2018Get Rekt\u2019 is a common victory put-down when overcoming a difficult or tenacious enemy.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
