Sony <\/strong>expects its acquisition of Bungie <\/strong>to close out by the end of 2022, <\/strong>according to financial report it published today.<\/p>\n

While forecasting for the 2022 fiscal year, the report states \u201cThis forecast is based on the assumption that the acquisition of Bungie, Inc., which is currently under review by the relevant authority, will close in the third quarter ending December 31, 2022.\u201d<\/p>\n

The review in question is the FTC\u2019s investigation<\/strong>, which was recently announced. While it doesn\u2019t appear to be something that PlayStation <\/strong>ought to be concerned about, it does point to the potential of more scrutiny to come from the FTC.<\/p>\n

Especially considering the number of large acquisitions the game industry has already had this year. Microsoft\u2019s<\/strong> acquisition of Activision Blizzard <\/strong>is also currently under review from the FTC.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting though that it remains likely both Sony\u2019s and Microsoft\u2019s acquisitions will get through to the other side of those investigations.<\/p>\n
