We try to cover every Switch game we\u2019re sent a code for here at Gamezebo. Sometimes we find ourselves with a bit of a backlog though \u2013 like right now for instance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So here are some shorter reviews of games released or updated on the Switch over the last few months \u2013 that we might not have got round to covering otherwise.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My Brother Ate My Pudding!<\/b><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

A sequel of sorts to the Mom Hid My Game titles, this one arguably steps over the line from being an amusing joke to something a bit crueller.<\/span><\/p>\n

Effectively a very simple environmental puzzler, you are tasked with 30 tiny stages where the objective is always the same \u2013 hide from your sister. As you ate her pudding. Naturally.<\/span><\/p>\n

The puzzles are often solved using bizarre methods, and usually involve manipulating the threadbare rooms in a range of creative ways.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sadly the solutions are often impossible to figure out without a lot of trial and error, and restarts take a little too long \u2013 the cutscenes and fail screens drag on a bit too<\/em> much. This means that what should be a light and breezy title can often feel a bit too much like a slog.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you treat My Brother Ate My Pudding as an interactive jokebook it\u2019s fine \u2013 but as a game it doesn\u2019t quite<\/em> work.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Sketchbook About Her Sun<\/b><\/p>\n

A Sketchbook About Her Sun is beautifully presented, but sadly it is barely a game \u2013 we\u2019d argue it shouldn\u2019t be sold as a game in the first place.<\/span><\/p>\n

You control the actions of Lucia in this vaguely interactive 30 minute title \u2013 a woman who has escaped a long-term relationship and now resides in a small town.<\/span><\/p>\n

She is attempting to lose herself in her art but can\u2019t help thinking of the past. Where you come in is by occasionally selecting one of two options \u2013 and sometimes only one \u2013 to help create poems at the end of each section.<\/span><\/p>\n

Each segment is based around tracks from an album from band Red Ribbon, and the music is great \u2013 but you simply don\u2019t get much out of this a player.<\/span><\/p>\n

There\u2019s no real development in the main character or the overarching narrative, and it all feels a little aimless. Beautiful, but aimless.<\/span><\/p>\n

Score: <\/b>2.5 out of 5<\/span><\/p>\n

Slipstream<\/b><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Slipstream is a retro style racer, and so it really has to go some to stand out from what is a very competitive field. So it\u2019s to its credit that it does manage to do quite a few things differently to its peers. Some work better than others.<\/span><\/p>\n

Its closest comparison is Outrun, with its fast 2D backgrounds and branching paths \u2013 although unlike Outrun each path takes you to a different character to race, from mouthy punks to Bob Ross homages (no, we\u2019re not sure why either).<\/span><\/p>\n

The action is fast, the controls are responsive, and there\u2019s a huge amount of content to get through \u2013 especially considering the reasonable price-point.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve already exhausted the Switch\u2019s premium retro racers then Slipstream is well worth a runaround.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Musical Story<\/b><\/p>\n

A Musical Story will be divisive, but here at Gamezebo we thought it was a massively impressive rhythm action title \u2013 with some caveats of course.<\/span><\/p>\n

Boasting a laid-back vibe you play as a band setting out on the road towards a festival, and the adventures you get up to on the way.<\/span><\/p>\n

Set up into story focused episodes that have to be played in order, the appeal is the way the levels flow \u2013 with colourful and eye-catching animation used throughout.<\/span><\/p>\n

We found A Musical Story easy to lose ourselves in, despite the difficulty. Others may not be so forgiving, but if you\u2019re looking for a new rhythm action title for your Switch this is an almost essential purchase.<\/span><\/p>\n
