Niantic is overhauling the Mega Evolution mechanics of Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/em>, making it easier for players to evolve (and re-evolve) their Pok\u00e9mon using Mega Energy. The developer is also adding new incentives to engage with the gotta-catch-\u2019em-all mobile game\u2019s Mega Evolution features, in the form of new bonuses. <\/p>\n

One of the biggest changes coming to Mega Evolutions is to Mega Raids itself. Niantic says those specific raids will be easier and can be conquered with fewer people. Mega Raids are currently four-star raids, just below the highest difficulty tier of raids. Niantic hasn\u2019t said just how many players are required or recommended for Mega Raids yet.<\/p>\n

Mega Evolving is also becoming a one-time cost; once players have acquired enough Mega Energy to evolve their Pok\u00e9mon, they\u2019ll be able to Mega Evolve them again and again, after a cooldown period. Players can<\/em> use Mega Energy to decrease a Pok\u00e9mon\u2019s cooldown period, Niantic said, and Mega Energy required to Mega Evolve a Pok\u00e9mon will decrease as the Pok\u00e9mon\u2019s cooldown period becomes shorter.<\/p>\n

Niantic is also introducing Mega Levels for Mega Evolved Pok\u00e9mon. \u201cEvery time you Mega Evolve a Pok\u00e9mon, you work toward increasing its Mega Level,\u201d Niantic said in a blog post. \u201cYou\u2019ll get more bonuses every time a Pok\u00e9mon\u2019s Mega Level goes up, and these bonuses will stay active while your Pok\u00e9mon is Mega Evolved.\u201d<\/p>\n

Those bonuses earned from Mega Evolved Pok\u00e9mon include existing perks like extra candy when catching Pok\u00e9mon that are the same type as players\u2019 current Mega-Evolved Pok\u00e9mon and damage boosts in Raids and Gym Battles; as well as new bonuses, like an increased chance of earning Candy XL and increased XP when catching Pok\u00e9mon of the same type as your Mega-Evolved Pok\u00e9mon.<\/p>\n
