CD Projekt Red may have been pretty sparse on details when it came to the announcement of their next Witcher<\/em> game, but fans of Geralt can always count on Netflix to have some reveals for their series adaptation.<\/p>\n

\"Production<\/p>\n

Just in, it\u2019s been confirmed that production for the third season of The Witcher<\/em> has already begun, and we have a set photo featuring Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, and Anya Chalotra. Check them out:<\/p>\n

Netflix has also dropped a synopsis for the third season which reads:<\/p>\n

\u201cAs monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri\u2019s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl\u2019s untapped powers; instead, they discover they\u2019ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line\u2014or risk losing each other forever.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

IGN reports that the series is currently aiming to run for seven seasons, with a lot of emphasis on using the books as the blueprint. As of now, it looks like The Witcher<\/em> is currently the biggest fantasy show on Netflix and it doesn\u2019t have too much competition.<\/p>\n

Admittedly, The Witcher<\/em> didn\u2019t turn out to be \u201cNetflix\u2019s Game of Thrones<\/em>\u201d as some fans hoped, but there is always room for improvement. The source material is still solid, and Cavill is wonderfully cast as Geralt.<\/p>\n
