Metroid
You of us selected this as your winner for Metroid’s Field Artwork Brawl again in January 2024, and it is simple to see why. The yellow background is hanging, and Samus’ Chozo Go well with is simply much more iconic than its alternate options. We’re not tremendous eager on the pink banner on the prime, however it’s not massively egregious, to be truthful.
Metroid II: Return of Samus
We have not lined Metroid II earlier than, however we are able to perceive why each area opted for this design. The barren atmosphere through which Samus finds herself is weirdly lovely, and naturally Samus is hanging the identical iconic pose seen within the above variant of Metroid. Every thing works right here – it is simply cool, y’know?
Tremendous Metroid
Tremendous Metroid featured in our very first Field Artwork Brawl, and unsurprisingly, it was the Japanese variant that received the day with 89% of the vote. Simply take a look at it! It is gorgeous, with loads of motion depicted within the paintings. This was arguably ruined for the western launch, however there’s solely a lot you are able to do with the comparatively smaller panorama orientation.
Metroid Fusion
Once more, Japan received Fusion’s Field Artwork Brawl, albeit not by a lot: 59% vs. 41% for North America and Europe. It is one other banger although, with Samus rocking her Fusion swimsuit with a bunch of enemies within the background and a complete bunch of blue goo seeping in from the aspect. Man, it is so good.
Metroid Dread
Lastly, we’ve got Dread. We’ve not lined this as a result of, effectively, all areas have the identical design. It options Samus within the foreground with the E.M.M.I looming menacingly within the background. The hanging pink and black distinction is great, and we love the simplicity of the brand itself.
Thanks for voting! We’ll see you subsequent week for one more version of Field Artwork Brawl!
