The Honkai: Star Rail Rarely Affectionate sidequest has players first discover a broken robot in Part 1, and then make a major decision about its fate in Part 2.
Here are all the possible endings to the Rarely Affection Part 2 quest and which choice you should make.
Rarely Affectionate Clara or Svarog – All Outcomes and Quest Endings
Choosing Clara
Selecting “We’ll go with Clara’s idea” will cause Pascal to get treatment for his condition. The robot’s personality and memory are not reset, and Clara hopes she’s made the right decision.
Clara will then become a visitor to the Astral Express and will sometimes be present when you return to the train.
After the next server reset, players will get a message from Clara, triggering the quest ‘No One is Answering.’
Clara shows the Trailblazer that Pascal is doing great after being treated with Mr. Svarog’s programs. However, she worries that the robot may not stay this way forever.
Pascal gives the player a ‘Flower Made From Scrap Iron‘ that it made itself, and thanks both Clara and the Trailblazer for their help.
The player then gets ‘The Lifecycle of Software Objects‘ Achievement.
Choosing Svarog
Selecting “Let’s just do what Mr. Svarog suggested” with cause Pascal to be formatted. The robot will get a full reset, including losing its memory, while Clara cries.
Clara will then become a visitor to the Astral Express and will sometimes be present when you return to the train.
After the next server reset, players will get a message from Clara, triggering the quest ‘Wish You Were Here.’
Clara shows the Trailblazer that Pascal has been successfully reset but that the robot’s former personality is shining through in other mechanical beings in the area.
“It’s like Pascal is always with us,” Clara remarks, before players unlock the ‘For a Breath I Tarry‘ Achievement.
Later, Clara will state that the robots left you a gift in the Tempering Workshop which turns out to be the ‘Flower Made From Scrap Iron‘ item.

Rarely Affectionate Part 2 Best Choice
While there’s no right answer for the choice between Clara and Svarog in the Rarely Affectionate questline, it seems like going with Clara’s solution seems like the ‘happier’ ending.
After all, by treating Pascal you don’t have to listen to Clara crying as her robot friend gets reset.
What’s more, while both routes end on a happier note, Clara’s choice leads to Pascal sticking around an making a full recovery. Of course, the future could lead to the robot having further issues…
And regardless of the player’s decision, they’ll still get the Flower Made From Scrap Iron one way or the other.
Honkai Star Rail: Does the Choice in Rarely Affectionate Matter?
No, ultimately the choice between Clara or Svarog’s solutions in Rarely Affectionate Part 2 do not matter in Honkai: Star Rail.
Each one will conclude the quest in its own way, giving players a different achievement and outcome following the next server reset.
What your choice will affect, however, is Pascal itself. Siding with Svarog will reintegrate Pascal with the base network, effectively resetting him to his basic operating function.
Siding with Clara will allow Pascal to keep his newfound intelligence and have the girl continue to work on preventing corruption from taking over. There’s a chance that Pascal will end up with a wiped memory somewhere down the time but, at the end of the day, it could be worth a shot.
Players should choose whichever answer feels right for them.
